So you use the slow and sear and the digiQ?
How often are you adding charcoal?
I get about 8 hours on a full Slow N Sear. More if I use the slower burning stuff.
ETA: the problem with the 225 showing as 25 in my pic is with the camera, not the DigiQ. It shows 225 in person...

My last boss has a Yoder. He said that it was built like a tank.

kamado joe big joe
I am about ready to pull the trigger on one of these. I went and looked at them in person today and realized I had really underestimated the size of the Big Joe’s. Coming from a Weber kettle I knew that the classic would not cut it and knew I wanted something larger than 22”. I like the surface area of the grill on the Big Joe’s, but l was shocked at the overall size/footprint.
If you decide to go with the Kamado Joe I believe another poster can get some good deals on KJ’s and Primo’s.

Kamados are versatile and can do anything. They are also fragile and tough to bring temps down if you overshoot because they retain heat so we'll.
I’ve had my egg for two years now and cook 3-4 times a week on it and have never overshot my temp where I’ve had to wait hours for it to drop or start over. But yes, if you do so it will take awhile to get down if you let it sit for awhile.
I say this in every thread, but BGE has a lifetime warranty so the fragility does not matter barring an accident of your own fault.

I guess you can cook on a pellet grill without pellets if you don't want smoke flavor but I doubt it would cook as evenly across the entire surface as a high end gas grill. Also, it may not even sear without the wood pellets.
You sound like a man who knows his pellet grills....

I know what I've read and I've seen how they're designed but I don't own one.
