We, East Jeff, played Brother Martin this year and they were the best team we faced. I had them making the final and giving St. Paul's a solid contest.

Gutted for Macca and the boys. That's an awful way to go out.

We’re heading over your way so my son can play in BUSA’s Red Diamond Classic in a couple of weeks. Looks like a seven team bracket for the gold division...should be interesting.

The club scene is outside my area of expertise, but enjoy your stay in Birmingham. I think Birmingham Legion has a home game that Sunday at 4PM if you can stick around that long.

That would be cool.

I swore off tournament soccer for my son, but he’s on two regional league teams and one of them is using this tournament to sharpen up before a tough league game (BRSC Black) a coupe of weeks later. Part of the commitment I guess.

The St. Paul’s team this year is almost all of the 02 MSC club team and the best players from the 03 team. The 02 and 03 MSC teams both won club state last year. Oh, and the high school state championship MVP from last year plays on a 19 year old club team.

It is probably unusual to have a high school team better than the club state champ.,,,,,but that is the case this year. Not saying they will definitely win the last 2 games because anything can happen. But yes, the players are that good.

MSC has a very good development philosophy, so I’m not surprised they produce great older players.

I had my son switch clubs after his U13 year, even though he was the center mid and they easily won state. No one was getting better and they simply tried to, albeit successfully, out physical teams. That only gets you so far in the game. His new club is more fundamental, and even though he plays every minute he’s been unable to make the difference he wants. He’ll figure it out though.

Wish we were closer to MSC, he’d have definitely been in their program.

Last year looked much of the same. Any result would do. It’s them and the rest of us.

In the other league my son plays in they’re 3rd...but I think we’ll struggle to stay in.

Your son at GCU? Their girls 06 teams are really good, my daughter is BRSC and we’ve came out on the wrong end a couple of times against them

GCU & HFC, but the last couple of years SMSC.

GCU girls are good, we’ve watched their finals before since my son knows a good number of them.

Ok.

The SPS vs. Netherlands game was great (assuming I know what that word means). SPS went up 3-0 and the Dutch came back to tie. They held the momentum for most of the second half. Then things got crazy. The Dutch got one of two red cards late in the second half. SPS puts the game winner in extra time. Then another Dutch player gets the second red card right before the end of the game.

SPS looked amazing for the first 30 minutes. The Dutch were the more physical team and it really showed in the second half in good and bad ways. Great (definition check) semifinal game. I’m glad to was able to take my kids.
