re: Travel Trailer Recommendations - For work and to be used as a camp

It will be mostly me living in it for work. My wife and little girl will visit from time to time. They will visit a lot more when we use it as a camp. Washer and dryer is a must since I will be living in it for 5 days a week. Maybe more when work gets busier.
I wanted a fifth wheel since I’ve read they tow better and also have higher ceilings and more options. I would think it would be a shorter setup (total length of truck and trailer).
I’m now looking at the 35ft grand design reflection. It’s 10,500lbs dry and 14,000lbs loaded and pin weight is at 1,960. I’m thinking that will be better option for me. To get a washer/dryer setup it looks like I need to go at least 35ft on the 5th wheel or travel trailer.

If you're bringing to one place and setting it up for several months at a time, then you don't really need the 5th wheel, but to each his own. I lived in my travel trailer for almost a year. You definitely want to look for several things: W/D, big closet, big fridge, big bathroom/shower, comfortable couch or recliner, and other storage space. Since it was mostly just me by myself (similar situation to your's) I stored most of my extra stuff in rubbermaid bins in the back bedroom. Now I will say that 5th wheels do have nice rear living setups that make great live in options. I would rather bring other stuff in the back of my truck when I haul my camper though, like a BBQ pit, ice chests, generator, other gear etc.

Why would I do that? I don't know his trim, options, or anything else but what he provided. He posted his payload numbers, which I assume came from either his VIN or his door sticker. Either way, the hitch weight of the 5th wheel he linked eats up all of his payload. If he gets in it to drive and weighs more than 36 lbs, he's over. That isn't opinion or guesswork. That's simple math.
It looks like he's doing his homework and ignoring people like you who are just talking out of their asses, which is exactly what he should do.

My .02, if you are pulling more than 8K with a half ton you are over weight somewhere, whether you care or not. Will you be pulled over, no, will gordon gets it done check your numbers before they sue you, very likely.
Are you towing below the ratings?
The RV Safety & Education Foundation data indicates that 57% of all RVs on the road exceed one or more weight safety ratings.
Check your payload sticker and do the math on camper GVWR not empty.
Additionally, the following exceed at least one rating:

before you buy it to have them plug in utilities. Then do a full inspection that everything works. Many new Rvs have issues from the start.
With a late model 250 you can go 10 to 12 k lbs and a 2 k pin weight and the truck does not needs bags or overloads
