I have business associates from DFW meeting in New Orleans at the end of March. They are not much on seafood, but fans of Del Fresco's, Bob's etc. Staying at Windsor. Closest I can think of is Dickie Brennans.( Yes, I did search this site first)
Any other suggestions in the area?

Many thanks

Ruth's is close.

Chophouse is also very close.

La Boca if they want something different than the usual.

The best of the bunch would be Doris Metropolitan, in the FQ.

Doris Metropolitan or La Boca if you want something a little different; both are excellent.

Desi Vega's or Doris

For steak at a steakhouse I would go Desi.

All of these plus Desi Vegas are within the general vicinity.

I miss Mr. Charlie's off Napoleon - now that was different and very good - I took a lot of 1st timers to that place and they talked about it for weeks (good talk) - I know you are asking about places that are that are open, NO still has some original and great steakhouses - enjoy your meal

You're going to go to 4-5 steakhouses in New Orleans?

Is that different than Charlie's Steakhouse (great onion rings) off of Napoleon? Because that's still open.

That's a lot of steakhouses in one trip buddy. If it were me I'd try some other restaurants that are unique to the city. But you do you.

My 2 favorite that I’ve been to are Mr. John’s and Chophouse, but I haven’t been to Doris Metropolitan, Desi Vega’s, or La Boca. Hell, I haven’t been to New Orleans in over 3 years, so it’s about time to go back and try a couple of these.

Didn’t care for Dickie Brennan’s. It was just okay.

I’ve done Desi Vega, La Boca, and Chophouse. I like them all equally bc each has a different style. Desi for cast iron filet, La Boca for different cuts (hangar is great), Chophouse for good Pitt style.

Thanks for the information - Charlie's had problems after Katrina like many of the old line NO restaurants - I checked on them for several years before my company moved to a new location - happy to hear they are in business - eating there was always a positive and enjoyable experience even if the location after dark became a little chancy, but then you always had a few cops hanging around outside - the steaks, onion rings, potatoes, creamed spinach and wedge salad were memorable -

I have an annual standing bet with a friend and the loser has to pay for the winner's meal at Charlie's. I always over do it on the onion rings and wedge salad before the steak even comes out.
