Anyone else use a drip irrigation system? I switched my beds over to drip irrigation for my fall crops and have been very impressed so far. Has cut down on weeds, less watering, and plants are healthy.

Yes, seems that plants really enjoy consistent watering.

I had to have irrigation because half my plants are in containers.

Yes - and had I known/realized how much of a time saver it was and its effectiveness I would have done it sooner. I plan to add some more.

I’ve been doing it quite a few years, saves a lot on the water bill.I have raised beds for vegetables.Wife has regular flower beds with soaker hoses.
Raised beds are the only way to garden if one is lazy.I’m not into all that plowing, tilling, making rows and hoeing, etc. We get more vegetables than we can eat.

I want to do a simple system in the spring, what kind of setup did you go with?

Super basic. Ran a hose to the first bed. I have 1' pvc that I used. Each bed has 1" running lengthwise depending on how many rows in each bed. I just ran tees.
I drilled small holes next to each plant. I initially ran a hose from the end of first bed to the next bed and so on, but the water pressure went way down and the plants weren't getting enough water. So at the faucet I bought the fitting where you can attach multiple hoses set to a timer and so I ran a hose to each bed. That fixed the problem. Very basic setup, but effective. I'll take a pic and post it here when I get a chance.

In addition to reducing the water bill, it reduces weeds because you are only watering desirable plants and not large areas

Anyone run theirs under the soil or under a layer of something like hay or pine straw in the garden. I've heard that helps even more with water usage, helps keeps critters from chewing on them, and a couple other benefits I'm forgetting right now.

I do. I use the Hoss system.

Hoss Drip Irrigation

I have reused the drip tape three times. They say twice but if you are careful it will last longer. I also have the tank so I can use liquid fertilizer and it gets directly at the plant. Where I use this I have a lot less weeds than where I don’t and side dress with fertilizer.

There are plenty of YouTube videos. Hoss has a lot of good gardening videos too.

I was planning on getting my stuff from dripdepot. They seem pretty well rated and have good prices.

I was planning on doing drip tube instead of drip tape though. I'm not gonna be running really long beds.

Install the 1/2” drip tubing on top of the soil. Install emitters and 1/4” tubing to the base of the plants. Mulch over drip system once it is installed. Sprinkler Warehouse has some info Drip Irrigation

I have drip tape in my garden, I make rows and bury it, have a big backyard garden, like the other guy mentioned I have the hoss tolls fertilizer Injector and it’s awesome. I have drip hose for my flower beds buried under mulch and it’s amazing. I couldn’t ever imagine having a garden or a flower bed without either, it was so dry the past two months where I lived everything would have died

Yes. It’s worth it, make sure you follow directions and don’t leave it connected for long periods of time bc it can crack due to pressure.
