Anyone in here ever use one of those light controllers to run a “show” with your Xmas lights? Been thinking about it for a while, might pull the trigger this year. Looking at this light o Rama kit. LIght o rama

If anyone has experience with these types of things, please share.

Thanks in advance

First I'll say that I enjoy those videos of houses absolutely done to the nines, synced to music, but it's not really "Christmas" to me.

I like traditional lights with a steady burn and a few chasing lights.

My only absolute NO is icicle lights. yuck.

For the past few years i've used the "Mr. Christmas Lights and Sounds of Christmas" off of amazon. I paid about $100. No real complaints other than the music actually comes out the box itself which some might prefer. You can plug 8 strands of lights into it so it does almost all of the lights

i did a bunch of reading about pixel lighting at the beginning of the year and started to design my system..... well after getting to the point of about 5k and foreseeing many dozens of hours or work i needed to do, i decided to shelve the project until im older with less to do. I have too many things going on in my life now.

the box you linked i believe only turns regular light strings on and off. you can do one of those badass shows.

They are for me. That's what I put around my entire roof. Incandescent only, no bright white LED's.

I have started to learn how to build LED strip controllers which led me to discover xLights. So, my next step is to start building controllers that can handle more LED strips and then using xLights to create the show. I am going to start small and build up from there.
