I have been looking into trying a green supplement such as Athletic Greens. Has anyone here had any luck with this type of daily supplement?

That's why I haven't bought any yet, very skeptical of things like this.

Buy a big plastic box of spinach from Costco for $3, add a big handful to the blender when you make your protein shakes, same thing.

Costco also sells a bag of mixed greens called "Power Greens" which is even better. Costs about $3.50.

If you're interested in micronutrients such as sulforaphane, then buy a pound of broccoli sprout seeds (Seeds Now is a good site) and grow them at home for pennies. Taste great and have scientifically demonstrated anti-cancer qualities.

quote:

Regarding the route and formulation of SFN administration, oral administration of fresh broccoli sprouts has shown to increase the absorption and consequently, the bioavailability of SFN in various studies (Atwell et al. 2015). An important factor to consider that affects the recovery of SFN from various preparations of cruciferous vegetables and dietary supplements is the difference in myrosinase activity (Clarke et al. 2011a, b). For instance, Shapiro et al. reported that the chewing of fresh broccoli sprouts increases the interaction of glucosinolates with myrosinase and consequently, increases the bioavailability of SFN in the body (Shapiro et al. 2001).

I’ve almost started this thread. Their ridiculous price is almost genius. For $100 a month, it MUST be awesome, right? Tim Ferris does endorse it, so there’s that.

For those of us who are too lazy to grow our own brusell sprouts, what’s a good alternative? I see Organifi a lot.
