I am interested in going on either a big horn and/or dall sheep hunt in the future. I know I will have to be in the best shape of my life and it will probably cost a lot of money. I am already starting to build up my gear. What else do I need to know?
1) Which do you recommend I hunt first?
2) Where should I go for the best opportunity?
3) Are all states/areas/countries draw?
4) Do you recommend any guides?

Thank you for any advice or recommendations.

You have a better chance of winning the lottery than drawing a sheep tag in the states.
Go to Canada. British Colombia specifically.
The guiding world is pretty small for sheep. Don’t skimp on a guide. Gonna cost you 16K for a good dall Hunt. That’s not airfare to get there.
Have a rifle that will reach out and touch something. And don’t miss.
Start with dall. It’s the cheapest.
I hope you have 150K if you want the grand slam. Once you start down this path it will grab you.

I’ve never been on a hunt but did all the research and almost booked my first dall Hunt. Then I realized what this little adventure was going to cost over the next 4-5 years.

You can always choose to do the Montana Unlimited Sheep hunt. It's OTC but the toughest country out there

I took a Dall in the Tok management area in Alaska.

Highly recommend my guide.

I worked out and hiked the levees with my pack with weights for months before I went, and it still kicked my arse. If, like me, you've lived around sea level elevation your entire life, you're in for a treat.

Pack NOTHING that you don't absolutely need.

Great experience for sure.

I have some friends hunting right now with Lancaster family hunting in the Mackenzie Mountains in the NWT and it looks amazing. They've all put down trophy Dall's already and moving onto Caribou.

My favorite outdoorsman Steven Rinella on “Meat Eater” has a couple if episodes in sheep. That shyt looks exhausting as hell but rewarding.

My buddy had a guide that was awesome and cheap, on different trips he took a 39" dall sheep. nice bull moose. 8' brown bear and some nice caribou. this guide was a licensed guide up there but only worked off of word of mouth, he was rough, not the easiest to get along with and just charged a guide fee (which was very reasonable) you were responsible for all bush flight costs, food, supplies, etc....but he put you on the animals

this year he cancelled all his hunts and has not given out any details or reasons????
