I’ve seen a good bit of people on public courses dressed in both. Is this not frowned upon anymore? I thought it was common knowledge that you should dress appropriately for golf.

Depends on the course. I agree you should try and look the part. Nice shirt and shorts/pants. By no means am I saying to go full Ricky Fowler at a local muny when 9 holes cost 13$

A lot of the pros wear jeans every week. They're not blue, but they're the same jeans.

No judgement, just an observation

I personally wouldn’t do it because I don’t think jeans would be comfortable to play golf in. But on a muni... whatevs.

I played Torrey South (US Open Venue) as a single and they paired me with a local in Jorts and a wife beater. He was a good old baw and we had a good time

the locals for Torrey Pines pay like $45 to play, they treat that place like Webb.

Last time I played it I got paired with the same type of dude, he was just hitting it up after work and wasn't really dressed the part.

Tourist drop $200 to play locals drop $45 .

Ill wear gym shorts and a t-shirt on goat ranches... If it has the makings of a decent course, I always have collared shirt and golf shorts/pants.

Golfers should only be judged by two things:

1. Their pace of play.
2. Whether or not they fix their pitch marks.

I see it a lot at some of the munis I play as they don’t really have a dress code. I always bring golf shorts, but if I’m squeezing in a quick round after work then I’ll just throw on a t-shirt.

I’ve played in flip flops for my evening golf league before. Came from work and didn’t have golf shoes in the car. But had flip flops, t shirt and shorts in my bag. It beat wearing my suit. No fricks given.

But I think it just depends on the course. If it’s a fancy place, hell no to jeans, t-shirts, or wearing your hat inside.

Muni course? Who cares.

If you play golf as an excuse to get sloppy drunk outdoors, by all means, wear jeans, overalls, sleeveless shirts, boots, whatever.

But don't bitch about greens fees because they are raised to keep Billy Bob and his crew of hell raisers off the course so gentlemen can enjoy the game without feeling like they're spending 5 hours at the Honky Tonk.
