I am alway pro-conservation and pro-angler.


But just like in places around the country proCon and pro-angler cross paths.

Take the Audubon society whom have virtually wrecked the surf fishing industry on hatteras island.

A bird, named the piping plover which is really not indigenous to Pea Island or Hatteras Island lays its egg on the beach side, it closes off the beach to 4wd beach goers elderly and angler for weeks. Anglers plan a yearly trip to the Point and it’s sure to be ruined by a bird that, again is not even in the souther reaches of its traditional habitat.

Park rangers set dog traps and kill other wildlife to protect this bird at the behest of Audubon.

The Audubon society tried to hinder co struction the Bonner bridge for 40 years and wanted to let the original crumble so no one could get to the islands via bridge.

So a bill like this let em spawn, sounds great to me.
I rarely keep what I catch. I fish for fun, unless happen to catch a slot red drum, black drum, flounder or trout.

Caught a six lb bass last week and kindly asked it to go get some tail and reproduce.
I don’t want to sound like Ted nugnet, it’s really a moment I take with the fish and let it go. The fun was catching it.


But can a bill like this put some really good people in jail or have all their gear taken away?

Would tossing a cast net and getting g some small mullet and pompano land the unknowing angler in some expensive trouble? I’ve had run ins with green jeans before. Some I deserved, but the others were a result of overzealous law enformcent over reaching, and a judge thought so too.


Long of the short, just how big should the waterproof binder be kept on every angler to stay out of trouble? I’m wary of non-sporting politicians making regs for us.
