I was looking to install Nest outdoor cameras and after walking around attic I have two outlets that could be used for power but I’m gonna need an extension. I read you can buy a 25 ft off brand extension but Nest also recommends a simple indoor extension cord. Has anyone faced the same dilemma?

You could just get some romex and run some recepts off of the existing ones to where you need one for the nest cam.

That is a possibility cause I will be installing a tv on patio and running power through ceiling is perferred. I’m not electrically inclined so may need to get help on adding recept though.

Sure. I ran all of mine with regular extension cords.

The power requirements for a Nest cam are not that high. Get a decent extension cord with 8 gauge wire and you can run it 25-30 feet with very minimal drop in voltage.

I would use outdoor rated cords, gets hot in attic.

Running receptacles is super easy and cheap
