You going I-12 to Mandeville and across the Causeway

or

I-55 to LaPlace, I-10 through Kenner to Metairie?

Time/less traffic are the considerations.

Did this for 6 years, went I-12 to Causeway. Always less than one hour to get there.

The time of the day depends on the route

Where you are coming from is the most important info, not the time of day

its the same either way but taking I-55/I-10 route you avoid paying $6 to cross the causeway

its free leaving new orleans but you pay coming back from north shore

on the return trip take causeway since its less traffic and therefore less idiot drivers to deal with

I-55 is always quicker--actually shorter too

You avoid the traffic on I-12 always slows down at the Tchefunta River and you avoid the potential to be stuck on the causeway bridge for an extended period of time if there's a breakdown or accident on the bridge. At least if shite happens on I-55, there's exits to take old Hwy 51.

Did this for 5 or so years. Went 12 to Mandeville. This was before the buildup at the newer shopping center in Covinton though. Now, I’d probably go I-55. That traffic from Goodbee to the causeway exit can be brutal.

What time of day?

55 is probably the better choice.
