How Capitalist is America Really?

Hearing Europe's airports privately owned, while America's are publicly owned. Any other examples like this? I know Japan's railway system is private while we subsidize Amtrack.

On a continuum, we’re more capitalist than most of our peers, but not as capitalist as some may think.

For many markets, if we don’t have outright public ownership, we subsidize, regulate, and distort the shite out of it.

That's not the worst of it. Every industry is corrupted. Every industry uses the government to generate revenue and bludgeon potential competitors. Every industry is just a bunch of rent-seeking SOBs.

A house in Tokyo costs much less than one in NYC, b/c Japanese National gov't handles zoning instead of Japanese cities.
