Average annual cap hit to date before this season (Brees' restructure hasn't posted yet but this will drop a lot on his side once it does and this year is added):

Brady: $10.5 mil per year cap hit

Brees: $11.3 mil per year cap hit

Edit:
If both retire after this year and we only count years played when determining cap number per year:

Brady- $226,794,206 over 20 years equals $11,339,710 cap hit per year

Brees $248,933,000 over 19 years equals $13,101,737 cap hit per year

We won the same number of playoff games as the Saints did this year and beat them head up. Better season

Brady was winning Super Bowls in his first 5 years (3 to be exact). Brees didn't win his only one until year 9 and his second contract was damn good given the circumstances. The Saints took a pretty damn big risk on him at the time despite what everyone thinks.

Do there annual cap hits for the last 7 or 8 years and that number changes a lot. Brees has made a 118 million dollars in the last 3 years with his contract and endorsements so it's not crazy to think that a guy that is always "a team first guy" would take a little less money to increase his odds at winning the Superbowl with this possibly being the last season of his career...I'm a saints fan before I'm a Drew Brees fan so I just want what's best for my teams chances to win another Superbowl
