Montana summer trip- Glacier/Whitefish

Looking to head to Montana this summer. Everything in Glacier is sold out in June/July already. I have a reservation in late June and late July at Firebrand currently(will cancel one).
I was only able to get six nights in June and 4 in July at Firebrand. The Lodge at Whitefish is sold out.
I'm trying to decide is it worth it to spend 4 days or so in Whitefish then head to Big Sky for another three or 4 days. Is heading to Big Sky to far? Is there somewhere else I should consider if I were looking to do a split stay?
eta: weather wise how is it in late June?

I'd spend 3 days in Whitefish. Awesome town
One day to explore the downtown and head up to Whitefish Mountain Resort
Two full days to explore different parts of Glacier NP (could put in another half day)

look at vrbo online we rented a cabin out of columbia falls on spoon lake that was outstanding... 5 of us

june will be warm and by some of the lakes the mosquitoes are vicious but overall outstanding one week isn't enough

It's still snowing in June. Don't go to the Glacier area until after the 4th of July.

Yeah, not if you want to drive Going to the Sun all the way through, and if you've never been up there and don't have a foreseeable date of going back, you certainly want to do that.

Big Sky is a days drive.
You could take the tram to the top of Lone Peak, drink at Beehive Basin Brewery, do some hiking, and fishing.
There’s also the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman.
Honestly though, I’d spend more time in Whitefish and Glacier.
I’d you do come this way though, go to Grand Teton and Jackson.
That’s a much longer drive though.

Check out Whitefish Escapes. I know some people that work there and they have beautiful vacation rentals throughout the Flathead Valley. If your primary goal is to visit Glacier on your trip you will not want to stay in Whitefish due to its distance (45 minutes) from the west entrance. Stay in Hungry Horse, Coram, or Columbia Falls if you can. You can do a day trip to Whitefish.
Weather in late June is generally good, although it still gets a little cold in the evenings. The best times are August and September but this is typically (as of the past few years) fire season so prepare for that. If you don’t mind crowds late June and July may be your best bet. Keep in mind that the road will only be open to hiker/biker until no earlier than June 21 this year as they are chip sealing the west portion of the road. Otherwise the opening is solely weather dependent. We have had snowstorms as late as July so it’s very unpredictable, each year the opening day is different.
As for day hikes and backpack trips I can help you.
I know nothing about Big Sky so I’m of little help there.

We rented a ranch through air b&b outside of kalispell in Kila. We were able to hit up Glacier, WHitefish, Kalispell, etc no problem throughout the week and the price was MUCH better than the places around glacier directly.

Big Sky is the new Jackson, probably.
Crossharbor Capital is putting billions into their three housing developments - the Yellowstone Club, Spanish Peaks, and Moonlight Basin. You’ll see possibly 15,000 additional seasonal residents from that alone.
That growth is going to turn Big Sky Resort and Big Sky into something else. The resort could easily overtake Whistler Blackcomb, given the massive increase in traffic from the residential growth, and given where they’re situated. They can quickly expand their acreage along the mountain, and have plans to do so.
The snow is also really good.
Right now Big Sky is still a little sleepy, and it’s still a place where you can go to get away, fish, hike, ski, and climb - without too much of a crowd.
But that won’t be true for much longer.
They say Bozeman will look like Colorado Springs by 2040.

Where I live is the second fastest growing region of the state, only behind Bozeman. With how quick my area is growing I can only imagine what the Gallatin is like. Being close to Yellowstone doesn’t hurt growth patterns either.

Getting there will be tricky. The Club has put down millions to stake new routes into BZN, which helps, they put money in escrow, and airlines start offering flights. Jet Blue is the latest.
Driving to Big Sky will be an issue though. The only way in is a through the traffic snarled canyon road.
Crossharbor is going to expand the road through Moonlight Basin to connect Big Sky to Ennis. That’s a much longer drive though.
And I assume a lot of that will be for employee access anyway. They’ll build employee housing in Ennis where it’s cheap.
That whole area is going to explode though. And almost overnight.
