We hired a, “Special Teams Genius” that’s unit generated two critical second half penalties on punts along with a muffed punt from a kid who was still making critical mental and execution errors in the 12th game of the year.

After your Defense induced a turnover on downs, knowing that without a first down you’d give TAMU another possession with 90 seconds thanks to their remaining timeouts, you run a pathetic series of downs, culminating in a cowardly 3rd down that went nowhere.

Putting all the pressure back on a defense that had already scored the points to get you back in the game and stopped the opponent on downs.

Our coach is still learning on the job...and we are having to overcome the opponent, refs and in crucial situations, his hand picked staff and their decision making.

EDIT: On second thought, you all are correct in that Tracy’s missed FG is an outlier in ticking off the Special Teams miscues. No need to list it there. I’ve edited the OP to remove it.

O is a fraud when the pressure is on. The only place He’s “coming” is in the press conference. When the going gets tough he goes conservative. Did it with the E hire by not being aggressive and settled. He did it against Notre Dame. He allowed it last night going ultra conservative at the end of regulation and then again in 7 overtimes.

He hasn’t learned a thing based on his actions. He has to be better. Got to adapt.

This is the most crucial IMO. This was right before all the ref frickery started. If we get a first down, it's all over. And I know the mindset was to run the clock down, but as one of the talking heads said earlier in the season: if you get first downs the clock takes care of itself.

I agree with several of your points above. I am NOT a fan of Coach O.

However...

The staff and team, despite these mistakes DID enough to win the game. I can not and will not fault O for obvious SEC predetermined outcomes.

As much as I was dismayed by Miles, I still do not blame him for Auburn in 2006 either.

Sometimes you have to recognize as a fan what you are watching. The SEC is no different than WWE.

They manufactured one of the most exciting games in history last night, whether or not you like the outcome.

Totally disagree. We put kids in position to make mistakes that should’ve been coached up or benched. We made weak calls and played not to lose late on offense. We exposed ourselves to officiating issues that impacted the game negatively for us, and they did.

We had a team capable of winning 10 regular season victories. We have a coaching staff they couldn’t overcome.

Lost me here. A 49-yarder is low percentage. We’re lucky to make as many FGs as we do.

It didn't help matters at all, but when those things are overcome only to be wiped clean by ridiculously biased officiating, it is obvious to me that the fix was in.

We didn’t execute on Special Teams regardless. Payton hired this bum an assistant he was so bad. Then he outright fired him for incompetence. We hired him and he fricked us in crunch time.

Along with an on the job training coach who played not to lose...not realizing in doing so he played not only win.

It should have never come down to overtime.

Texas A&M is garbage.

With barely over 2 minutes and A&M with 2 timeouts it's the right call. Force them to expend the timeouts and leave them with 1:29 to go 78 yards with no timeouts. If you pass and get an incompletion they save the timeouts. It's a better probability. Especially if you have an "elite D" and mastermind DC.

Do you not have faith that Aranda's D can stop Mond who everyone says sucks from going 78 yards in 89 seconds without a timeout?

I'm not necessarily saying we should have passed, but you can call some aggressive run plays instead of that chicken shite play calling. My point is that you cannot give them the ball back whether I have faith in Aranda's D or not. Get the first down. End it.
