At some point I saw someone comment about we’re a matchup problem for Texas A&M. They were referring to our record against them since they joined the SEC. Can someone please explain??

LSU, with our DBs and fast LBs are a matchup problem for A&M, which tries to spread teams out. LSU just doesn’t struggle against teams built that way. Where we have struggled has been against power teams that run downhill.

I would assume that’s what you’ve been hearing.

Offensively it might be difficult to run. I do think we can throw depending on (gasp) how Ensminger schemes to attack the secondary.

This is the first time in the recent series they probably have an edge in terms of matchups within the game but LSU is the better team.

Stop the run
Protect Burrow
Catch the ball

Too many questions for A&M's secondary to be this late in the year. If Ensminger can get the passing game going, it'll be a different type of game (vs. running all over the A&M defense, which is what usually has happened); but could be the same result.

in conference games
lsu scoring o - #9, 24ppg
a&m scoring d - #7, 26ppg

lsu pass o - #10, 206ypg
a&m pass d - #12, 259ypg

lsu rush o - #7, 163ypg
a&m rush d - #1, 77ypg (OUCH!)

lsu total o - #8, 369ypg
a&m total d - #5, 336ypg

lsu 1st downs - #7, 21pg
a&m 1st downs allowed - #2, 16pg

lsu sacks allowed - #11, 3pg
a&m sacks - #2, 3pg

lsu t.o.p. - #3, 32mpg
a&m t.o.p. - #1, 36mpg

lsu 3rd down conversion - #8, 36pg
a&m 3rd down conversions allowed- #1, 29pg

lsu rz conversion - #11, 80% (40% td)
a&m rz conversion allowed - #3, 75% (69% td)

a&m opponent offense ranks against conference
bama - 4
ark - 118
uk - 122
scar - 72
msu - 123
aub - 113
ole miss - 17
average - 81 (lsu - 92 against sec)

lsu opponent d ranks
aub - 36
ole miss - 123
fla - 28
georgia - 13
msu - 4
bama - 7
ark - 82
average - 42 (a&m - 26 against sec)

lsu has faced significantly better defenses than a&m has faced offenses. that skews the numbers a bit towards a&m's favor on that side of the ball.

also, a&m has 2 more losses despite easier opponents' offenses.

just looking at these numbers, it seems to me that lsu's o should have more success against a&m's d than a&m's o will have against lsu's d.

Didn't Danny light them up with close to 400 in the air last year?
