I’ve looked into Simplisafe but what other options are out there

Same here, you have to get a monthly plan to be able to use your phone for monitoring with Simpli. I want full DIY with no fees so interested in what's best for that.

Abode...as of now they play nice with most everyone. And you select which monitoring level you want, from self monitoring through the app (free) to subscribing to a monitoring service.

I did a lot of searching and came across this system. It’s sold by a company located in Covington. 100% DIY, no fees, connects to WiFi and has an app you can download to control the system. They sell two different packages, both come with 1 main hub with built in siren, 2 motion detectors, 12 door/window sensors, and 2 key ring remotes. $150 for that package or $200 for that package plus 2 cameras that connect to the system as well. No shite. I have Gigabit internet (1000 up 1000 down) with 3 wired access points around my house and yard. I was extremely surprised when I had issues with one of my floodlight cams and had to get creative with placement of a chime pro.

That is because it has nothing to do with your internet connection, your gig connection is meaningless if you have crap wifi routers nowhere near the Ring. You need a strong WiFi system that has range, two completely different things.

I just installed this Chinese Zosi NVR 8 camera system at my house. Was about $350 after adding a 2 TB hard drive to it, has a great picture and was really inexpensive.

Or get a system like mine that has it's own dedicated wifi signal, the only time my system is eating up my internet bandwidth is when I am viewing things remotely.

I understand the concept and 100% agree with you there.

I thought I had great coverage with 3 wired access points (good quality nighthawk routers) but even with that didn't have 1 close enough to 1 of my floodlight cams

I just got the Nest system and we are liking it so far. I may buy a few more of the motion/door sensors, but I don't see the need to put one on every window (we have one on each of our entry doors).

I still haven't ripped out our old circa 1993 alarm system yet, but I know I'll love that day

Also, don't pay $500 for the Nest System, you can buy NIB on eBay for $350.
