I already have a SmartThings Hub set-up and operating Z-Wave Devices in my home.

I just ordered a 2Gig GC3 to use for my alarm system (previous owner left behind 15 2Gig window/door sensors and 2 motion detectors from a Vivint System)

I know the 2Gig system can operate Zwave devices, but I plan to stick with SmartThings for that and only use the 2Gig for the alarm.

Does anyone know if having 2 Zwave hubs in the same location will cause any kind of interference?

I’m thinking no, but just looking for anyone who may have experienced this type situation.

You should be able to have both. I've got wink and smartthings in my house with both controlling z-wave devices. The smartthings hub should be able to communicate with the 2gig devices, not sure if you've tried adding one to see if it will give you the functionality you're looking for if in fact they are z-wave

So how can one tell? I have TOCA Alarm in New Orleans and we have wireless alarms on windows but the front and back door are wired as well as a front and master bedroom panel.
Is it possible to control these with any kind of hub? ST or Wink, etc?

How can I find out?

The 2Gig Sensors in the house aren’t the Z-Wave ones. I checked that out when we moved in. They do make some though.

From what I gather the GC3 outputs whatever signal these sensors are, as well as Z-Wave.

The security sensors on the GC3 aren't Zwave. The panel just has a Zwave controller built into it for light, lock, etc.

Are you going to use alarm dot com's back end ?

Yes. I have a buddy who owns an alarm company here in town. He is getting the equipment for me and will handle monitoring through alarm.com.

Perfect. That’s what I was looking for.

I’d use the GC3 to handle everything, but it looks like the Alexa Integration sucks with it.

From what I’m reading you have to say “Alexa, tell Alarm.com to -insert task here-“

Seems kind of silly.

I keep them separate. Samsung for everything smart. The thermostat that came with the alarm company needs to stay in the 2gig though. Scheduling can't happen in Samsung

Battery backup is not a good enough reason to switch. Is your router currently on battery backup? If yes, plug Wink into the battery backup. If no, buy a network battery backup device for your router and Wink hub.
