I am finishing up No Country, and loved it. Any similar books?

I tried to find similar books after I read it as well. It’s pretty tough. NCFOM is unique. The coen brothers did a great job adapting it and it’s greatness on the page was the reason it one so many awards.

Anyway... As stated you could try his other works. The road has been the only other one I’ve cared for. Blood meridian is a classic but I’ve never read it.

If you’re looking for drug cartel related books you could try don winslow’s Cartel. And Winslow has some other decent novels. Savages is drug related.

Could also try Stephen hunter. Dirty white boys comes to mind when thinking similar to no country. Not drug related but a bad guy works over a good guy pretty good.

Hunter wrote the bob lee swagger (shooter) series, but dirty white boys does not star bob lee.

That’s about all I got. Maybe somebody will come up with things that are closer.

And I’m not trying to advocate that any of these recommendations are on par in quality as no country, but they were pretty good.

The Friends Of Eddie Coyle or Cogan's Trade both by George V. Higgins, especially the latter. Bleak and unapologetic look at low level criminals in the NE.

The Friends Of Eddie Coyle

One of my all time favorite books. Incredibly well written.

A couple of reviews online say Cormac McCarthy has a lot of great books that are just as good. I haven't read any of his yet. But that might be a good place to look.

None of McCarthy's other books that I've read have the same feel as No Country For Old Men. The Road does in certain parts, but nothing like No Country For Old Men.

Someone mentioned A Simple Plan, and that is a good rec. It's nowhere near as good as No Country, but still a good read.
