How does ANY business stay solvent? They perform a service (or, provide a good / commodity ) y=that CUSTOMERS value enough to pay them for it.

Maybe the unions need to change their model then. Maybe they should represent individuals on a case by case basis who are members rather than all employees.

Most of the union 'protections' are already part of US law.
And 'right-to-work' laws state that no one has to join a union to get a job.
