Searched and got nothing so here it goes.

Has anyone read this?

I just listened to a coast to coast interview with the author (someone sent it to me on facebook) and I am torn as to just totally dismiss it or get into it lol

I am pretty skeptical but even if you treat it as fiction it is highly entertaining.

If you drink a shot every time Judith Vary Baker (or whatever the author's name is) writes "cancer causing monkey virus", you'll need a liver transplant by the end of the book.

I'll try to be serious ...

If you're from the New Orleans area, the book is fairly interesting because you'll likely already "know" many of the characters. The author, Ed Haslam, weaves a very elaborate tale, but it becomes increasingly ridiculous. He uses Judith Vary Baker as a primary source. (She may even be co-author, I can't remember.) Simply put, in layman's terms, she's a nut.

Baker makes Dr. Alton Ochsner out to be some ultra right wing nefarious character who completely dominates the local, if not national, medical community. I can't believe his family hasn't sued the shite out of her for defamation of character or something.

It's worth reading if you enjoy the World Weekly News. It's quite the story, but it's just that - a story.

I also read Lee & Me, which is REALLY retarded. I tried to read David Ferrie but had to quit because it got so ridiculous so fast, and was primarily just a re-hash of her tales from the previous books.

I have no doubt that Judith Vary Baker believes every word she put on paper. I also have no doubt that she is seriously mentally ill. She portrays herself as kind of a tragic Forrest Gump, except with an IQ of 186 (or some other ridiculously high figure). She alleges to have met almost every person linked by the Garrison investigation to the Kennedy assisination and was unwittingly duped by Ochsner into participating in a plot to kill Castro. It's nuts.

If you are a Kennedy assassination conspiracy buff, this is the book for you as it takes multiple crazy theories to new heights. It's a very entertaining read, especially if you are familiar with New Orleans locations and characters from the Garrison investigation. Get the updated hardcover edition- fewer typographical errors and it contains autopsy photographs of Dr. Mary. Will have to concede it's definitely not a run-of-the-mill murder case after seeing that!

Seriously, man, she's nuttier than squirrel shite. In one (if not both) of the books she claims that Alton Ochsner saw her high school science fair project and was so impressed that he invited her to N.O. to do cancer research and go to Tulane Med School (because in addition to being Chief of Surgery, apparently Ochsner was Tulane Med's one man admission board. Undergraduate degree? MCAT scores? Letters of Reference? frick all that shite, I saw your science fair project. You're IN!)

Roach nails it. The book is very good, especially for someone with Louisiana connections. Fortunately JVB comes into play in the last 1/4 of the book, which is where it went south for me.

I think she probably really believes her own bullshite. I don't think she's a scam artist because it's not a very clever and believable story. I think her problem is organic. In clinical terms, she's nuts.

Worth reading... but with a giant grain of salt. You will drive around Uptown and Children's Hospital, though, to see Oswald and Ferrie's apartments and the Old Government complex where the ray gun contraption was kept.
While I joke about the ray gun, apparently some secret stuff was going on there. And there is some truth to the monkey virus thing, just maybe not the "cancer causing" part. So yeah... read for fun. Just don't cite it in your master thesis or anything else.

Maybe because it’s closer to truth than you think?
