What a batshit movie. Between the 12 year old drug dealer, the cartoonish brain and eyes in the jar, robot suicides, Robo getting sliced to pieces then coming back with 50,000 new directives, Robo electrocuting himself, a whole baseball teams worth of child criminals, and on and on it is a hodgepodge of insanity.

the mayor is awesome though

I'd buy that for a dollar.

(I realize that is from Robocop, and not 2, but it's the thing that stands out the most to me )

I actually thought the prototype "cyborgs" not being able to handle the stress of this computer body and then unknowingly or intentionally killing themselves seemed the most realistic part of the movie..

Sure but it's still a jarring thing to have in the movie, especially the way they did it

RoboCop 2 is a decent sequel, way better than RoboCop 3 or the remake.

Yeah.. it is disturbing.. that's why I like it. Seems like a very likely outcome to some human brain trying to connect with a computer and then rejecting the science.
It's a modern take on Frankenstein and why you shouldn't frick with natural biology..
The rest of the movie sucked.

The idea that someone would think Cain would make a good was insane.
The kid pissed me off, he got his.
Still a lot better than the third and the reboot.
You want to talk shite plots, every transformer is about some old secret, but known to some, alien device, that both sides need to rebuild their societies.

i dont even know if i would call it a shite plot per se, just way out in left field and not in a good way.

Yes, it was too dark. The 12-year old who became the gang leader storyline was ridiculous. I get the tone of the film, because they were showing just how bad society could get. The first film alone had a lot of it with the corporate back stabbing and gang/drug angle. But, the bad child angle in Robocop 2 was messed up. The finale was pretty good though. It was also directed by Irvin Kershner.

The Cain cyborg was pretty cool. Really loved his Gatling gun when I was a kid.
