If we keep all of our current 3* recruits and let's say 6 or 8 of them get bumped up to 4*, will you feel better about the class even though they're the same kids?

Well, to be fair...that is not even unreasonable.

Most people do not KNOW these players and scout them personally.

So, knowing the people who DO watch them against other talented players and who rank them based upon offers, performance, etc SHOULD carry some kind of added benefit.

These ranking agencies are not perfect by any stretch. But, they are better than just hearing a name.

I, personally, don't get worked up by these things. I cheer like hell for the dudes in P & G and leave it at that. But, I certainly understand the value of having "unbiased" assessments and relying a bit on that for evaluation of the class.

If we get better recruits than LSU has now, some of those 3 star commits will be asked to grayshirt if they want to stay at LSU... However, I think most all the 3 stars are playing bigger than the 3 star rating. Nuf said!

I asked this question at work yesterday and it just amazed me how much people truly get caught up in star ratings. Coach O and his staff has evaluated these kids and if they feel good about offering these kids then that should be good enough regardless of ratings. It would be different if we had a class full of 2* kids, but most of our 3* kids are very high 3*. A solid senior season would put them over the hump, but Coach O and staff may have gotten to them before they could be over exposed which is extremely good for us.

I'm going to create a new LSU shirt:

"My 3 star can kick your 4-5 star's arse!"

The problem with you question is that you are assuming 6-8 of the 3 stars could become 4 stars. The real number is about 2 or 3 of them would even be close enough to become 4 stars. This is a mediocre class.

5-6 of our 3 stars have 4 star offer sheets.

Look at offers, not stars.

Lots of power 5/upper tier offers? Probably a good 4 star.

if you have to explain that to someone, they really don't need to be following recruiting

We have had a number of 5 stars that did not work out for us. The system m isn't perfect.

I just saw tape of the Foucha kid, and to be honest I would take 25 3 star guys that play their positions just like this kid, and I would go ONLINE NOW and buy tickets to the NCAA Playoffs and title games for 2019-20222!! And we would play in 2 of the 4 titles with kids that good.

Like in the thread titled his name, I responded twice already and watched the dam tape twice. He is the next Tyrann Mathieu and their is not a better film for a DB that I can remember, and I would put his film against Surtains.. Go watch it and enjoy!!!

So, I dont care about 5 stars, 3 stars, etc... if the coaches see the kids and know they can play. Don't get me wrong I want the 5 stars but in this FOucha kids case, somebody fricked up with his rating. Like one guy in the other thread said, Not sure what you guys are worried about stars but this kid should be rated 6 stars, and I agree. If they would ever come up with that to give to ONE Player only, this kid is the man among boys in all the tape I just watched

True but it's fact that a five star has a much better shot of being drafted over a three star. People trying to spin the notion that having a class full of three stars is just as good as having a class of four and five stars are foolish. Nobody knows how the class will turn out production wise down the road but as of now on paper it's a weaker than normal class for LSU. There is no other way of spinning it.
