When SEC teams take the time to worry about and practice to "tee off" on the jet sweep, it means the jet sweep is already very effective before LSU even jogs onto the football field for the game.

which will in turn leave holes in the D we can exploit. spread out LB's we gash them up the middle or over middle. bring up safties in box go wide or deep down sidelines. bring up safties on outside go back over middle intermediate or deep.

Bama is too talented and too deep to wear out their defense physically. But you can wear them out mentally. When they have to anticipate 2 or 3 different threats before every snap, that takes its toll on the mind.

Great point. I would like to add another scenario that will affect Bama's mentality as much as anticipating 2 or 3 different threats every snap.

That is tempo. Canada has stated multiple times that he changes the tempo of his plays so the defenses cannot become comfortable. Against the previous OC's Bama players had time to look to the sideline, lineup, change where they are lined up, etc. They knew they had time to change their defensive calls.

Now, Matt may go slow for a few plays. As soon as Bama starts looking to the sideline or starts changing the calls the ball may already be snapped. It will get them moving, thinking, adjusting faster on every play afterwards because they will not know when the ball will be snapped. They will not be able to comfortably change their original calls. That will take a toll on them also.

LSU has had "letdown" games after playing Bama recently. I'm hoping Bama will wish they had a bye AFTER the LSU game this year. This season they should be physically and mentally drained after the Tigers come to visit.

Is Bama somehow immune to deception? The notion that it will work on every team but Bama states that they somehow are above making mistakes and couldn't possibly over pursue or get caught looking.

Have you watched Bama since 2009? They are pretty damn prepared.

The teams that have beaten Bama have one thing in common. Elite QB's who happen to be able to run the ball.

Not necessarily true. Auburn beat Bama in 2013 with Nick Marshall at QB.

Was he mobile? Yes.

Was he an "elite QB?" Hardly.

Now, Etling isn't the same threat to run as Marshall was, but LSU has plenty of threats and athletes who can make plays. Etling's role will be to manage a competent passing attack to balance out the offense. That is something he is capable of, granted that he's not under pressure every time he drops back to pass.

Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee appreciate the hell out of being called "Elite" - 2010 - 24-21 LSU.

Steven Garcia said he hasn't been called "Elite" since high school - 2010 - 35-21 South Carolina.

Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee don't remember if they were ever called "Elite" before today - 2011 - 9-6 LSU.

Nick Marshall says he is still "Elite" and you better damn sure you remember it - 2013 - 34-28 Auburn.

Trevor Knight says he thinks he is "Elite" even though he lost his starting job at OU, and that if he was not injured at A&M he would have proved it - 2013 - 45-31 Oklahoma.

Bo Wallace just said "Hell Yeah, Baby" and something about needing to make a beer run soon. Says East Mississippi Community College desperately needed a QB's coach or he would be an All-Pro QB in the NFL - says he is just doing his current gig out of the kindness of his heart (what a guy!!) - 2014 - 23-17 Ole Miss.

On top of that I'd argue that neither Bo Wallace nor Chad Kelley were Elite.

Above average? Yes. pretty darn good? Yioi can argue that. Elite? No way in hell

Also neither was a run threat.

Or Cardale Jones since he was third string before injuries forced him into the starting role.

I think it would be better if you could do a separate thread for each game.

Yeah I think that's what I'm gonna do next time

The first video got over 3500 views while the latest one barely got 500.

Are you saying you don't believe I contacted all those guys and got their comments on their thoughts of you calling them "Elite"?

2014- Wallace ran for a whopping 199 yds averaging a stellar 1.6 ypc. His career average was 2.4ypc. Not exactly a runner.

You have a much better case with Kelly. I didn't realize that he had decent rushing stats. In 2015 he ran for 509 yds on 4.8 ypc. Not to shabby.

But here's the catch: against Bama (who it was stated that an elite running QB is needed to beat) he had 8 carries for 21 yards averaging a not so stellar 2.8 ypc.

Edit: I know you weren't replying to me.

I didn't mention Kelly in my previous post because I was a big fan of his. Not the mental Kelly but the QB on the field Kelly. He damn near beat Florida State by himself last year.

I see this as being the same as the new LSU jet sweep. It doesn't have to work but if a defense knows there is a threat of it being run they have to be ready for it. That opens up other things the offense can do.
