My guess is that he didn't get much interest from better programs . He may have won a lot but I don't think he is as good of a hire as Herman , Taggert , Fuente . Just doesn't seem like people believe he is the next great coach.

Where have the last great MAC Coaches went? Syracuse, Wake Forest, North Carolina State, Kansas, Illinois, Cincinnati, Iowa State. Its not like a great year in a MAC school can get you a great job. Minnesota is on the top end of jobs that he could have gotten from Western Michigan. There's a reason he wasnt getting calls from LSU and other big jobs last month.

Depends. If he gets 8+wins there, his stock goes up.

yeah, he was crazy to turn down 3.5 million a year at a school that doesn't seriously think they're going to contend

He has three years because the
program was in a shambles.

he did just fine.

more money, patient alumni. what's not to like?
he's young.
He's got a couple of years before he has to beat Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska, NW. m'keh. solid opposition. reasonable.

Obviously none of the bigtime schools thought he was a viable option this year.

How many thought O was a viable option? Just Alleva. How scary is that for LSU?

At lease Fleck showed he could win big with no where near the talent of LSU.
