They didn't. ESPN marked a 1st down on the screen when it was really 3rd and 1 on the field. That threw off the rest of the drive in the red zone.

Not only does it not matter, but if this is true, Auburn would have kicked an easier field goal on fourth down rather than a pass play that they got sacked on.
