Flood is not written by private companies, but by the NFIP. National Flood Insurance Program.

No company can write a flood policy, but they can issue them through the gov't. Depending on your flood zone, your rate will change. I bet if you ask your neighbors, their's will be the exact same.

Thanks but I'm aware of this.

I felt like bragging that I wasn't getting destroyed on flood since I'm not entirely sold on my HO policy.

Got a quote from Maison Insurance at $1541 for a year. Question is what does this $1000 AOP Deductible cover? Any insurance guys know?

Liberty Mutual gave me a pretty decent homeowners quote as well but they were like $400 higher with our vehicles than what Im paying at State Farm right now.

LM undercuts everyone in the first year then jacks up rates like no other in the next couple years.

Bias meter is full. I work for State Farm.

I did in college, 8 years ago

I had my vehicles and life with SF for 10+ years

I have my flood and HO with LM, never any problems

SF hurricane deductible is ridiculous. My vehicles with LM are $1K cheaper a year for the same exact coverage

Wind Insurance has gotten so expensive in Coastal Alabama that people are paying off their houses so they can drop it.

We still have it, but actually my deductible is so high that a new roof is going to be on us anyway. Many of my neighbors are strategically taking down trees in anticipation of having to go without wind.
