That cross-section would actually match up with the interior renderings that were released.

That very small upper level can be seen here:

But neither of them match up with this new seating diagram.

New Seating Chart for Tiger Stadium

My understanding for attempting to seat 99,500 was to avoid falling under the 100k+ building codes, which would require major renovations to meet code.

That could be the reason for not "connecting" the SEZ expansion to the existing structure. They can claim it is a complex holding over 100k, but the single building doesn't. IMHO.

It's possible that hurdle was already satisfied with the East Upper construction, as it technically is a separate structure because it does not touch Tiger Stadium. Not sure but I think ditto for the West Upper and the new SEZ Upper. Perhaps each will have their own codes.

seems to match up just fine to me. as long as you realize the seating diagram for the south endzone obviously is just blown up and not to scale.

Bingo. That misleading diagram of the new SEZ Upper makes the highest seats look like they are on Bluebonnet.

I should clarify by saying neither of them match up if the very top deck is not blown up in size in that seating diagram, which it very well could be.

But then what's the point of making only that deck so disproportionally blown up in size?

Probably because the ladies like bigger decks.

Perhaps, then, we should be replicating A&M's monstrosity:

All of the upper decks are separate structures for ticket purposes. I think it's a LA law that TAF can only own a certain percentage of tickets. The old WUD used to count towards the percentage, but now it doesn't. TAF can own 100% of those tickets, plus what ever the law states for the lower bowl. Also, after the WUD was complete, it took a while for the official capacity to be announced because they had to get the fire marshal to inspect it and determine how many would be allowed. I expect the same thing to hold true with the new construction.

I'm amazed that at a football school like LSU that has tons of money at its disposal, that this rendering is about the best we've gotten after more than a year. Compared to:

Kyle Field

Vaught-Hemingway:

Davis Wade:

Razorback Stadium:

Yeah it's strange. I'm sure LSU has it but for whatever reason never released it.

Only reason I might come up with is, TAF already had the cash to do this. Most of the other schools who released renderings are probably looking to raise excitement and cash flow.

Yeah that is what I've assumed as well. Most of those schools, and most schools in general, are trying to show fans "what we can do with X amount of money" whereas LSU basically came out and said "hey, here's what we're doing, it will be ready in two years."

Wasn't talking about the building code rumor that this board believes is gospel despite the uppers not even being physically connected to the lower bowl.

Yep I remember when they introduced the west side. The website had this big introduction to the new deck with music and explained what club seats were. At the time one would be crazy to pay 2 grand a seat for the right to sit in the upper deck; that was the mentality. Now we know the differences and we want the seats. TAF did not need to spend the money on promoting the sez. For years the fans were asking when are you going to build it because I have my checkbook right here.
