But I'm also thinking, if I use ballistic turrets, I keep it on 100 for supersonic and shoot all day. Switch to 220 grain bullets and turn the distance to 500 to be on at 100 and 600 for 150. The distances may be off but it's my idea. Anybody know if this will work?

Carson, can I do this with the 1-4 VX-R?

Bapple, I would greatly appreciate it. I can get my hands on all the necessary equipment but I do not own the 300 BLK dies and presses yet. Once I get those, I may get you to further explain the process to me. I do not have a chronograph so I will just be going by the info I see online. I just dont want to continue paying over $1.5 for a round as simple as the 300 BLK. Barnes sure is proud of their factory ammo.

Well to keep things basic for now, the two main differences I can think of compared to pistol loading are these:

1. You don't have to trim handgun cases.
2. You don't have to expand the case mouths in rifle cases.

Pistol loading is extremely fast compared to rifle. But rifle loading can have much better benefits because you can find the right powder/bullet combination that makes the rifle shoot amazingly.

Either one should work as long as you get very familiar with it.

Get the SDN-6

Carson, Do you know if that SDN-6 can be used on a 300 win mag? Is that round too hot for it?

If you got the money, Id throw a vote for the new Vortex Razor 1-6x scope. I fondled one at a match for a while and when the funds are available it will be on my AR and the red dot will go in the trash.

Nimble, I do believe that the 300 Win Mag is too hot. I still dont know which one I prefer but I remember reading that 300 Win Mag is a no no through the SDN.

Poppa, Thanks for the heads up. I am not quite setup to reload yet but I may have to take a look. I am not happy with Midway right now anyways. They were supposed to have some 300 BLK UMC in stock on the 25th but now they pushed it back till after the first of the year.

Kengel, Why would you say that the Razor is worth the extra money? It weighs 2.5 times more and cost 3-4 times more. I know that yo said if I had the money, but thats quite a bit more money. Honestly, a SB would be my option over that, I think. Secondly, How would you recommend switching from supersonic to subsonic? Both at 100 yards with a mildot scope with ballistic turrets.

What optics did you buy for your 300?

I just picked up a Core15 300 blackout tac2 and I'm trying to decide on optics now. I've been looking at the Nikon P-300. It's made specifically for the BO and he has mark for sub and super rounds. It's only $200 too!

I'm going to use the rifle as my new hog gun and maybe a little during deer season. My shots won't be more than 200yards. Most about 100yards away.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have paperwork in the works for an SDN-6 right now. It can safely shoot 300 Win Mag as long as the rifle has a barrel of 24" or greater. Any shorter you risk blowing out the suppressor.
