Just left City Cafe and there chargrilled oysters were terrible. The oysters had way to much breading(or whatever that was) and had almost no flavor. The pepper jelly shrimp was decent though but that's my second and last time visiting that place.

Yea it had some sort of bread crumbs on it no idea what it was but it was terrible. Not sure who decided to make them the way they do but I'll never go to that place again.

Sucks that you didn't enjoy them over there last night .. I didn't go .. I've always enjoyed them, but it sounds like you got yours with too much breading or something .. i need to try Mansur's, per Gris Gris, I have never had them over there before ..

We're going to try city cafe tonight .89 sounds good

I have never been on this night.. Do they maybe do something different to keep it cheap?

I have had mansurs(good) and parrains (bad) ACME (always small), Stroubes($$$ diff but good)

CC has always been a cut above for me.

I know that there's some form of a breading on them, but all the times that I've had them they were very tasty. I can't understand the "no flavor" thing unless they have a new person doing the oysters.

Me too...The only problem I have with Mansur's over City Cafe is that I can go to City Cafe in gym shorts, stains on my t-shirt, grass stuck to my legs from sweat & smelling like 2 cycle motor oil, than plop up to the bar at City Cafe without too many people giving me the stink eye...I don't think Mansur's will alloy that

I wouldn't got to Mansur's with bad body odor, but the bar area is very casual. Jeans are fine and I've seen people in there in decent shorts. It's a bar with TV's, very casual setting.

I may have been exaggerating a tad bit about my smell & appearance.

Mason's Grill has a pretty good broiled oyster. I love oysters all kinds of ways and am glad to have City Cafe & Mason's Grill within a fairly close proximity of my house.
