The smith is a great gun. There are several reasons that I like the S&W better than that particular Springfield....
1. Skeletonized trigger and hammer on the S&W, not on Springfield.
2. Beaver tail grip safety with memory pad on the S&W, but not on the Springfield.
3. Personal preference, but I like the scalloping on the slide on the S&W.

The beaver tail and hammer on the S&W will prevent a lot of hammer bite, especially if you have meaty hands.

I personally like a skeltonized trigger, along with beaver tail.

Springfield just doesn't handle well for me.

If yall had to choose between this s&w or the rem r1 enhanced, which woul it be. I'm torn. Both stainless.

The R1 Enhanced is cool but I personally think the S&W is one of the best looking 1911s on the market. I love the fish scale serrations (just like on their M&Ps) and I also like the external extractor. It's easier to service.

Like I said, out of the box, the trigger is awesome. The series 70 style firing mechanism is very smooth and it has a titanium firing pin.

The safety has a very solid feel to it with a positive engagement and it's ambi if that's your thing.

I've changed on mine:

Sights -> Dawson Precision Fiber Optic (only because it was a target pistol and I didn't need the night sights. But they're available if you want to buy them from me)

Magwell and MSH -> Ed Brown Maxiwell (wanted a larger magwell for magazine changes)

Springs -> Wilson Combat spring kit from Midway ($20 - the recoil spring was a bit weak on mine from the factory and the Wilson kit included a new mainspring, so my trigger pull is even lower now)

Magazine release -> Wilson Combat Extended (again, for quicker mag changes)

Grips -> G10 Tiger Stripe VZ Grips (look badass)

You don't have to do all these mods but I think it really makes Gloria stand out...

She's pictured here with a Checkmate 10 round mag:

Preciate it!

An OB outing to somewhere will have to be in the works. But it'll have to be post-ammogeddon.

they got a springfield one that's $950.... its all stainless in the back but i kind of like the S&W.

That is a mil-spec and not even close to a $950 gun.

You can get a range officer for $100 cheaper and get way more features.

That Springfield pictured is a $750 gun man.

I have a S&W 1911. I bought it as a shot show special from Jim's in 2008. I love the gun. I have had some custom work done to it. One of my favorites.
