The M school you were thinking about near Cinci is probably Mason. That's where Anthony Munoz son went that ended up going to UT. They have a huge school, huge gym, football program, etc.
ALSO, Massillon also has Massillon Perry, so that's three schools for Massillon which has the population of about 32,000
I was just looking at computer ranking from this year I didn't realize Massillon Washington went 9-1, played Canton McKinley in the 2nd round(that's a match-up of major former Ohio football powers) and ended up losing in the 3rd round.

Massillon football has been irrelevant since Spielman graduated. I think Tuberville's a dick but don't think this will hurt him much. It may hurt Massillon players who want to go to Cincy, but if they want to go there bad enough they can reach out to Tuberville themselves.

Kosmo, this year was a bit of an aberration for Massillon Washington. They have had some decent years but not great and may have actually made it to the state finals recently, only to lose. But there was a span of about 15 yrs where they were average at best. Kind of like Moeller...they won the D1 title this year after about a 30 yr hiatus.
Mason is a big school but not a big football school. They have traditionally been good at soccer but I can't recall them ever getting deep in the football playoffs.

When your career goes from Auburn to Texas Tech to Cincinatti I think we can officially say your flame has just about burned out. Poor Tubs just yearns for a BCS Bowl again and thinks that Cincy is his easiest route to get there. This is the exact type of laziness that got he and the BBQ Boys pushed out at Auburn. He was burned out and now the poor guy is running around in circles trying to get back into the news and be relevant again.

As time passes it's starting to appear that Tuberville isn't handling Ohio recruiting very well. He needs relationships with Ohio high school coaches and right now all he's doing is burning bridges.
quote:
Pebblebrook High School defensive back Demetrius Monday de-committed from Cincinnati on Thursday after never hearing from new coach Tommy Tuberville.
“I think it’s messed up,” his father, Bryant Monday, told the AJC. “You wait until a few weeks before signing day to say something? They could have told us a month ago.
“Now we’re left with less than a month until signing day to figure something out. He had other scholarship offers but he hasn’t talked to other coaches in six months … since he committed to Cincinnati on July 25.
“It’s really disappointing.”
The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Monday said he committed to Cincinnati over Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Ball State, Ohio and Georgia State, among others, last summer. Tuberville was hired by Cincinnati on Dec. 8. After not hearing from the new staff, the elder Monday finally called up the football offices this week.
“They told us to ‘look other places,’” Monday said. “I’m in Los Angeles on vacation, and I just got the bad news.
“The thing is, we’ve talked to some other kids committed to Cincinnati. They say the same thing, that they haven’t heard from the staff. Basically (Tuberville) isn’t calling anybody, he’s trying to get the kids to de-commit on their own.

FIFY. Between his last actions in Lubbock, the crap that started this thread, and now this (plus there's another one on the same article, which I've linked below).

Sounds like the coach and kid were mad Tubberville offered another QB and the kid decomitted on his own. Coach comes off as a huge bitch in that article.

... the HS coach sounds like the consumate arrogant dick ... who is he to "ban" college reps from the school ...

Yes he does but now it appears that Tuberville is screwing up with other high schools so its no longer a single incident where blame can be placed on one high school coach.

There are 2 high schools in Massillon...Washington and Jackson.

Also forgot about Massillon Perry. I believe the "M" school in Cincy is Moeller. Mason is a big school but not very relevant in football.

The following statement in the article says a lot...
quote:Some, not all, of the people up here have a huge bug up there arse when it comes to Texas and/or the South. This guy sounds like one of them.
It could be a big mistake by Tuberville. He came to Cincinnati from Texas Tech. Tuberville is a coach from the south and making his first head coaching stop in the Midwest.
