I'll start some individual player and position review after I do some beach time the next ten days or so. Before then how bout some general high point/low point discussion...

Surprise Players
Hicks- showed a lot of pure potential at the NFL level. This guy could bud into a true star

Corey White- For a 5th Rd pick out of Samford and being pressed into action he was burned quite a bit (as expected). By the time he went down with injury though he progressed to the point where ya could see what they saw in him. Definitely passed Patrick, a 3rd rder, on the depth chart

IAQ- I think the majority here like the prospect of him at free safety over Jenkins in his few starts

Tom Johnson- one of the players not given recognition anywhere near his contributions. He's had some quality reps. Injury has been much more a downside than his performance in two years.

Cameron Jordan- made giant steps of progress IMO, another year in this direction and he'll be getting to All Pro discussion

Joe Morgan- his numbers and role almost exactly what I expected, so not a surprise. A definite bright spot though if he can translate role play to more substantial reps

Morstead- I've been on him getting All Pro for two years before this season. We're set for a league best punter and kickoffs as far as we can see

Bill Robinson- he was working as a bouncer and signed off the street. He wasn't embarrassing. He was not even bad. Quite an achievement straight from civilian life.

Elbert Mack- thought he couldn't be much if the Bucs dropped him. Might be the best #3 CB on the team. A keeper at least.

Lance- just some kudos for his first 1000yd season

100% agree. Will be a boss.

He and Mack are nice depth, but I still think we need another corner in the draft. None of the people we have can stay healthy worth a crap.

Really like this good. So much more rangy than either Harper or Jenkins.

These guys stepped up huge this year.

Been one of my favorite Saints for awhile now. He's one of the least talked about but most reliable WR's in the entire league.

did miss it, I've been doing some post season decompression. Got some vacay coming and needed to wring out some Saints angst before leaving

Trying to focus on individual players and not generalities here

Wow, IAQ is only 23.

He has a lot of time for development.

Ingram, Hicks, Corey White younger than him. Cameron Jordan only a month older

Nothing about play quality but minus just Shanle, Will Smith, Devery, & Vilma would subtract 128 years off next year's roster, or almost 2.5 years avg age. It's seems about time for some fresh infusion of youth and hunger to me.

That's so true. Some of these younger guys showed promise especially on defense but they took their share of lumps as well. One thing a coach can't teach is experience. Let's hope the experience the youngsters gained this season pays dividends moving forward.

Agree with all of this. I'd actually throw Rafael Bush in here as well. He made a couple of really nice plays in coverage toward the end of the year. I don't think he's a starter but a solid guy on the team.

I really like Bunkley, Johnson, Hicks going forward as our top 3 DT

Of the players
on the worst
(most yards ever given up) defense, the best my eyes saw this year was Johnson and Jordan. White, Hicks and Mack showed some promise.

Morgan and Ingram surprised with a late season performance on the off. side.
