I've always thought Matthew Fox (Lost) would make a great Commander Shepard. This guy on IMDB post his suggested cast, and I agree with most of them: LINK

There is NO other option.

If they use Shepard I want him to be a Renegade. Bitch slapping that reporter just felt so good...

You mean you didn't love Mario Bros with John Leguizamo?

I thought she looked familiar because that actually is Miranda.

Ok so... This movie is in the making and as a HUGE fan of the video games. I'm really torn about it.

What direction do you think they should take with this movie? Should it be about Shepard and the Reapers? Shepard on another adventure? Or leave Shepard out entirely and go for a new story in the same universe?

I'm sort of leaning towards going at it from a whole new angle and leave shepard out of it... I'm just too worried they will flop what should be an incredibly epic sci-fi flick by trying to hard to be like the game.

Thoughts?

They shouldn't make Mass Effect. It is its own epic adventure and you cant squeeze even the most important parts of ME into a movie

They should let the team that did the Halo 4: Foward Unto Dawn take a crack at it.

I'm excited about this, would make a great universe to explore via film.

I can't see it being good.

What makes ME awesome is the insane detail and the slow storytelling pacing.

I just don't see how a film can pull that off.

By using the universe as a backdrop to tell a story. It would be difficult to translate the trilogy onto film, I hope they look to other stories.

^This. A retelling of Shepards story will fail IMO. It needs to be new and fresh.

Better yet Shepards origins. But I want to see some Garus.

I always thought the gaming company should put together several CGI webisodes using the original voice actors. I think they could do some very fun short films.
