Did anyone pick this up? Searched and saw nothing. Wondering what people think of it.

Thread from a few days ago. I've got it, listened to it a few times. I find it to be a solid rock album for them. It's not going to be as big as Superunknown, but for a band making their first album in 16 years it's a pretty good one.

Good article in Grantland about it.

Though I disagree with calling Chris Cornell the second best songwriter out of Seattle. Soundgarden's strength was never songwriting. It was Kim Thayil's guitarwork and Cornell shrieking like a banshee.

I like it a lot. I haven't been a Soundgarden fan forever, so I just recently came to appreciate the awesomeness that is BMF. I haven't really listened to their stuff before that. I think KA stands up with DOTU, but SG will probably never match SU again and no one should expect that they should, IMO FWIW.

Agree. Superunknown was just an amazing album, one that is almost impossible to top.

Mike McCready, Eddie Vedder, Jerry Cantrell, Buzz Osborne and Mark Arm all disagree with this statement

this is more accurate. And I fall into the goup of "everything sucked after badmotorfinger." SG was great due to their metal nature, and the more melodic stuff turned me off.

You left off Kurt Cobain and Mark Lanegan. But, yeah. Really, the first two guys I thought of were Cantrell and Langean.

I wouldn't say "sucks", but I definitely agree there is Bamotorfinger and then everything else.

I don't think they suck, but it's the terms that are used lol.

Yeah, Cobain was a great writer actually. I never appreciated his skills until the Unplugged session, because the nuances were muddled and hidden by the distortion of their studio works.

I never listened to much Screaming Trees, so Langean isn't one I think of. For some reason I never could get into their sound. However, Mad Season was legit!

Badmotorfinger was pretty incredible too...not as commercial as Superunknown, but heavy as hell...
