Gifting a Vehicle (Title Transfer, Notary etc.)

My father will be meeting me in Metairie area tomorrow to sign over the title of a vehicle to me.
Anyone who has been though this process recently want to provide any helpful tips or information?
The LA DMV website gives a checklist of sorts with required forms included ( LINK) , is this really all that is required? I'll be venturing into the worst DMV known to man tomorrow, so I'm just trying to get armed with any and all possible pieces of info.
Thanks, men.

Should have no problem if he does an act of donation and y'all go thru a notary. You will have to pay the tax value though for the plate.

If you're in Metairie go to DFS title, 4141 Vets, they will handle all that shite and you dont have to mess with the DMV.

I keep hearing mixed messages on whether any taxes are owed when the car is gifted. Where is Poodlebrain?

Just did this last year, bring tell him to bring insurance for the gift car, title and $125, sign a few papers and its done

If your father owns the car outright, no taxes owed (I believe). If there is an outstanding balance owed to a lender, sales tax is owed on this amount.
