LSU were both ranked in the top 10 when facing each other.

Did I miss something or did 2005 just not happen?

I thought Bama imploded after the 4-0 start of '05?

eta: I guess not.

No, they were undefeated when we played them (8-0)?

Think they were 9-0 and played us the next week when we kicked the shite out of them with 12 sacks and started 21-0.

ESPN hates LSU...wants to make this game look like once in a lifetime so they never have to talk about it again.

No Bama was 9 or 10-0 heading into our showdown. They were winning quite ugly, but had one of the best back 7's in SEC history. Croyle and Prothro-less offense were very sluggish.

Auburn then spanked them very hard the next week and then Bama squeeked by TTU in Cotton.

Bama's offense imploded after Prothro broke his leg. Their defense still rocked many a world.

Thankfully, we had just enough gas in the tank to beat them in '05. Down 10-0 at half, we came back at them with all we had left - Justin Vincent and Russell and Bowe.

Bama played damn near every single game on CBS that year. Verne nearly cried when they lost that day.

I think we began that losing streak for the Bammerz, maybe I'm confused though. I remember making my homecoming date go somewhere with a TV tho so I could keep track of the score and making him listen to it on the radio.

THIS. They were 9-0 and lost their last two games of the year (regular season)

I remember being in Oxford the following week and Auburn killed Bama and the GT upset Miami and then Fresno was hanging with USC for 3 quarters and I thought, "This is crazy...we are going to push up to #2 and we're not going to have enough gas in the tank to meet Texas in Pasadena (I knew we were doomed in ATL)." Well, USC won and the matter didn't become an earth-shattering event for us when we lost to UGA in the SEC c'ship ala Tennessee 2001.

they were 9-0 and ranked 4th when we came to town...although several they had several ugly wins. Kind of like this year, somewhat...they had a helluva defense but the few games before LSU their offense sputtered and they won on field goals.

From Rosetta's column in the Advocate:
quote:

This is only the second time since 1978 the Tigers and Crimson Tide lock horns as top-10 teams, so you know there will be plenty of over-analysis until 2:30 p.m. Saturday, when the ball finally gets kicked off.

So 2005 would be the other one.

I think it is funny that when ESPN showed the big games for this weekend. the first game was LSU vs Gumps with no TV listed. I guess they don't want to advertise for their competition but it just looked stupid since they listed the others.
