Ford Gets Cold Feet, Pulls Plug on Multibillion-Dollar China-Backed EV Battery Plant

Considering that most of Ford reliability problems come from the electrical systems, who tf would want to buy a Ford that IS a giant electric system?

Hmmmm. Did he decide this before or after errybody found out it was a deal with the CCP?

The fact that Ford has already lost about $4 billion on EV's may have had something to do with their decision.

Im actually surprised that Ford made a good decision to kill the project.

Most people want ICE to remain and do not want an EV. I sure dont, but I would willingly drive a hybrid. If I am going on a long trip I dont want to be stuck waiting hours in line to get a charge.

Dodge killing off its top 2 models for an EV is just absolutely insane.

Meanwhile, Ford is busily constructing an EV battery plant, in partnership with South Korea, here in Kentucky. I'm not sure on the numbers but it is north of 4 Billion dollars.

yea, and the "last call" cars are no deal

local dodg dealer has one manual trans car

asking price $68,000 for a challenger

the last new one I bought was $32K pre covid

Yea that’s crazy. I get killing off some shite models that lose money in favor of EVs to try something but killing off popular and profitable models is just stupid

The UAW might be our ticket to getting some of these unreasonable CAFE and increasingly strict emissions regulations temporarily frozen.

If Ford and Stellantis are going full EV and they suck at it…the UAW won’t really exist for much longer. The UAW needs affordable pickup trucks and cars out of the bit 3.

Of the domestic legacy automakers, I think only GM is truly big enough to make the massive investment into EV’s and even they are partnering with LG and Honda to help cover some of those costs. They have some solid EV products but nobody wants them. Because they are expensive and are at least partially dependent on sketchy charging infrastructure.

I can’t think of a single Stellantis EV. Ford has a couple of them. Not not Stellantis.
