Same can be said for Baylor and Aranda. Their final drive was atrocious conservatism.

Aranda is overrated. Always has been.

All of the top 4 should've lost last Saturday.

ON the 4th down and 2 yards in his previous possession with only 1:45 seconds left in the game he should have went for it.

From his own 26 yard line? If it fails, TCU is already in FG range. I don't think any coach goes for it in that situation. Baylor got a 45 yard punt to put TCU back at their own 30.

should have went

Seriously?

They practice it in a rush. Teams FREEZE kickers all the time. Did Dykes have them practice a "rush to be frozen play"? FREEZING creates pressure, especially when you are not at home!!

Answer the question. Which is more likely to result in a missed field goal?

Rushing a field goal unit on the field to barely get the snap / kick off in time, or kicking after a timeout?

Freezing a kicker really only has one risk for the kicking team, and that is getting in the kickers head.

Rushing the field goal unit to get the kick off before the clock goes out? Several things could go wrong. False start (10 second runoff - game over), Bad snap due to having to rush, kicker may be out of sorts as he didn't have time to line up as usual, and several other issues that come along with having to rush onto the field.

tcu changed players for kicking unit, I thought the other team was allowed to sub in additional players also and ump would not stop time.. I swear if seen it done

The substitution rule doesn't apply at end of game FG situations

For the 100th time! If LSU beats Georgia they make the CFP, if they lose, they get left out. That’s it! Literally everyone else could win or lose and it wouldn’t impact whether or not LSU makes the playoff.

If Aranda substitutes, TCU loses and LSU goes to 4.
If this is official, it should explain the rules.
Approved Ruling 3-5-2 LINK
quote:
VIII. Late in the first half Team A is out of timeouts. A pass play on third down ends inbounds at the B-25 short of the line to gain with the game clock showing 0:10. Facing fourth down and three, Team A immediately hurries its field goal team onto the field. RULING: Team B should reasonably expect that Team A will attempt a field goal in this situation and should have its field-goal defense unit ready. The umpire will not stand over the ball, as there should be no issue of the defense being uncertain about the next play.
IX. Late in the first half Team A is out of timeouts. A pass play on third down ends inbounds at the B-25 short of the line to gain with the game clock showing 0:30. Facing fourth down and three, Team A gives no indication as to its next play until the game clock reads 0:10. They then rush their field goal unit onto the field, and Team B then hurries to respond. RULING: The umpire moves to the ball to prevent the snap until Team B has had a reasonable opportunity to get its field-goal defense unit onto the field. The umpire will step away when he judges that the defense has had enough time. If the game clock reads 0:00 before the ball is snapped after the umpire steps away, the half is over.

The center judge is the one who clears the ball, the umpire backs out after he sets ball and R is ready. This is the rule but not the mechanic.

I was thinking the same thing also. Since TCU substituted, Baylor should have substituted slow and let the clock run out. Aranda blew it
must substitute promptly and BU did sub one player. so that kick was going.

Aranda lost the game running it 3 times up the middle and punting- end of story. game over. Winners don't play not to lose.

Let me clear this up for yall. If Aranda would have had some balls, ON the 4th down and 2 yards in his previous possession with only 1:45 seconds left in the game he should have went for it. If they make the 1st down, that's ball game. Baylor easily runs out the clock. Your team is 4-3 in the conference. Now you are 4-4. What did he have to lose. Horrible decision

Yep. A first down is more important than a time out for the opposing team in the college game in that situation. Throwing it on first or second and they probably win. Add to it not going for it on 4th to ice game with their record and I just don’t get it.

Didn’t read all of the responses but I had to look it up for myself

No, he would not have been allowed time to substitute as long as the offensive field goal unit runs out immediately
