I just found out about this band. I know, where the hell have I been??? They are so damn technical and Tim Henson is on another planet with his guitar style. Very cool new sound.

Yup, his approach is fantastical. Have a playlist with them included called Math Music...Plini, Jakub Zytecki, Owane, Intervals, Animals as Leaders, Vitalism, Syncatto are others that you might dig if not already turned onto.

Tim is insane. I don't care for most of their stuff but that kid can play the hell out of a guitar.

If you like them, I recommend checking out Catbamboo. They're an insanely good mathrock band originally from Baton Rouge that is kinda starting to blow up right now. LINK

I Built The Sky is another great one. LINK

Art Decade has some interesting stuff, too. LINK

Palm Reader is another good one. LINK

I’ve been listening to them for about 3 years now. So fricking good and creative. They take influence from pop and edm a lot but that is 4 virtuoso level guys making some amazing music.

Maybe not as complicated and impressive as Animals as Leaders but definitely more listenable

ETA the are playing House of Blues Jul 29 so do yourself a favor

Found them yesterday and am blown away. They are playing HOB in N.O. end of July and I'm debating on going.

Polyphia's style has evolved so much from starting as a djent/shred/metal project. Very cool to see where they've been from album to album.
Tim Henson is basically a savant and doing things never really done before on guitar, but actually I prefer Scott's riffs and solos.

Their style really turned into what it is now after they toured with Chon (another great listen). I prefer the Muse/Renaissance version as most of their stuff is starting to sound similar now, but they've blown up lately.

The band opening for them at HOB Unprocessed has a guitarist who does a lot of cool tapping and harmonics, he's worth a watch also.

In past 6 months have seen Intervals x2 and Animals as Leaders so adding Polyphia is cherry on top.
