Rewatched Shrek and Shrek 2 recently

I hadn't seen the movies since I was a kid, but for the parents here, was this the best movie to watch with your kids from a parent standpoint? I caught so many references that went over my head when I was younger... I probably honestly laughed harder now than when I was kid.

I was in 8th grade when it came out, I thought it was ok. I watched it recently with my kids and laughed more because of things I didn’t understand as a kid.
