A family member decided to get me into bow hunting for Christmas. I'm super excited and have been reading non-stop. I purchased the sight I wanted, but have no clue on how to sight it in or if I really should try without a bow vise anyways.

Are there any shops within the Slidell-Metairie area that could help with this? I'm not looking for anyone to do it for free. I will be buying arrows from this dealer as well.

Is Chag's good?

The guys at Chag's are very good. They have a range upstairs and will help with the sighting in to 20 yards.

What bow, baw?

Mission MXR. I have since bought a Black Gold Ascent Verdict 5-pin sight, a Stan Xtinction 2 release, and other random shite. Really just need arrows and a target.

Thanks for the heads up on Chag's.

Awesome. They're close to work. We got it from a guy in Hammond who I liked dealing with, but it's hard to get there from 9-5 M-F.

I got my first bow for Christmas too. Was amazed at how much the extras cost, but I do love it. Went with the Matthews V3x - same company that makes Mission I think.

You ain't lying. It's nuts. However, I am of the thought, buy once cry once.

Louisiana Outdoors in Slidell.

Last time I went was 30 years ago when it was named Ken's Bayou Archery.

I LOVE chags. Sammy is the man!! But the main issue is he is always backed up bc he’s a one man show. Don’t plan to walk in and get fitted. You will have to drop it off and come back in when it’s your turn. But he is EXCELLENT.

I just called and asked if I could stop by and have my peep adjusted and was told it would be a while. It’s not a huge deal. I’ll drop it off at the end of the season and let him get to it when he can.

Sooooo I went to Chag’s today and you guys were right. Those guys were super helpful and willing to answer any questions I had. I think I found my new favorite sporting goods store.

They are super helpful. One time a guy in there opened up some hooks and fishing plastics and showed me how to rig them up. Pretty cool.

Go with Slick Trick 100gr broadheads. Accurate like fieldtips, and devastating on deer.

You haven't been there in 30 years but you recommend the place?

I will reinforce the consensus. Chag’s. I have a new crossbow. Was having an issue sighting it in. Stopped there, do not know the dude’s name, but he brought me upstairs and took a few shots. I must have accidentally done it correctly. When he said,”no charge”, I immediately started shopping for something else. Would have felt guilty buying nothing after that. Yes, I understand he only took 4 shots, but he did a service, and should be paid for that service.

They have a loyal customer in me.

I agree if you are new you need professional help to get started.

In the future the rule is you chase the arrow with your pin, so if you are shooting high you move it up / right move right and on and on.

You will learn a lot about deer bowhunting since you have to get so close to them to kill one

GOOD LUCK
