I don't like the 1-30 system.

Basically it is saying who would be favored over who, and that poll looks tons more accurate over the others out there. I was in an argument with a couple people last night and I said I would favor around 9 teams or so over LSU right now.

Florida will be favored over LSU, you can count on that.

I still think Auburn at 20 still seems a few spots too high, 24-30 is more realistic.

As bad as USC looked, I think they would be favored in any matchup in the country at this time. So thats why they are still in the top 2.

That list proves why Ken White and LVSC are just Roxy Roxborough trained power-rating clone-liners, and why the Vegas books follow the oddsmakers at CRIS, Greek, Pinnacle, Grande,etc..

Harrah's hotels,etc..follow CRIS/Greek openers and the wiseguy's early plays..LVSC just recommends opening numbers..offshore cappers, wiseguys, and the few remaining syndicates are what shape those numbers up and down.

P.S. And as upright as the USC Defensive Lineman and Linebackers stand immediately as the ball is snapped..Bama's Offensive Line would blast them off the line of scrimmage.

You do know lines are set to draw even money, not predict the outcome of the game?

maybe bad coaching should be taken into consideration.
if they have the best team every year and always lose to shitty teams, it must be the coaching

Game is in the swamp, that will help. They will NOT by more than -5. And that might be a stretch.

For what it is meant to be, this is a great poll. Probably the best I've seen.

Whats your point? You obviously give points to the weaker team. So in a hypothetical game between USC and LSU, LSu being the weaker team would get points so as to even out the betting.

If there were no point spreads we would all be rich beyond belief, but would have nobosy to take our action.

I do want to say that yesterday on the Rant i told someone that the big-12 was clearly the best conference this season and that there are probably 3 teams in the big-12 better than any in the SEC.
This poll supports my analysis.

umm ok. For your sake you better hope that LSU would get a ton of points. I would say USC would be favored by 6 or so.

Or it supports the theory west coast teams are overrated by gamblers in Vegas because so many of them hail from the west coast. Vegas, not being stupid, adjusts their lines accordingly.

People like to bet the home team. Vegas, while it does attract people from all over, gets a lot of its action from California.

Oddsmakers do not pick games. they pick gambling habits.

The lines in Vegas are pretty much the same as the lines in Atlantic city and in offshore books.

Serious gamblers generally don't bet on their own team

But how much action is from "serious gamblers"? Ten percent? Fifty? I honestly don't know. But there's a lot of money that gets bet, and I'd be stunned if most of it came from serious gamblers.

Im pretty sure a hypothetical game in Tiger Stadium between USC and LSU, that USC...being the weaker team would be getting points, so as to even out the betting.

and If the hypothetical game was @ USC, then LSU would be getting pts.

Now, if the game was at a neutral site, I think the odds would be pretty darn close to even. So what im basically saying...is that you're full of it.
