I mean its not an island on to itself, its part of a bigger industry within the state but you'll see derricks pumping all over on backroads and there are a lot of older family oil companies. Some not as big as they used to be, some used to drill internationally but that basically describes the entire state.

Ahh yeh the soap plant, I forgot about that. Olla or Urania got some big plant a few years back that make some wood product that was a pretty big deal for the area.

Jena? I mean it does have a McDonald's, Popeyes, Subway and a Sonic right next to each other. (And a liquor store owned by Native Americans.) And that great American Festival "Howdy Neighbor Day". I guess this is acceptable.

2-3k per acre, add about 2k if it has merchantable timber. Quite a bit more for farmland in the Delta

Basically the better the hunting is on the land, the less people are inclined to sell. But that isn't to say that timber companies aren't always selling and leasing land. Farm land is probably on par with farm land in the rest of the state.

Driving through Frogmore on 84 when the cotton is high is top 5 in the prettiest areas in the state.

Hunt petroleum has taken billions out of lasalle parish, passed out a few measly jobs and everybody smiles. It’s actually pretty sickening.

Justiss Oil at least kept it local and has done a ton for the area. But I cannot disagree with the Hunt part.

ETA: I'll walk the Hunt part back a little, idk about currently but back in the day they did a good bit to help generate more production in the area.

Not trying to be argumentative, but name one thing justice does for the community?

Those frickers had the last tax assessor ran off after he assessed their taxes fairly for the first time in years and they had to pay more.
