Anyone else surprised he decided to sign a contract extension with UTSA instead of looking at the Texas Tech and TCU jobs? I know $2.8mil/year is good, but you’re never winning anything at UTSA.

I think it depends on the buyout if he voluntarily leaves. If a) neither of those jobs came calling, or b) he's not interested in them right now, get a contract and wait for the right thing to pop up.

He wins every time the payment hits his bank account.

He's probably better off where he is than at Texas Tech. It would be a risky move for him since Leach is really the only coach that has ever been able to sustain any kind of success there. Risky job to take. TCU would probably be a good spot for him, but they probably haven't offered.

Pretty sure they will win C-USA Championship & possibly a NY6 bowl this year.
This is only his 2nd year ever being a HC. No need to get ahead of himself & rush off to a bigger program.
