President Biden's nominee to lead a branch of the Treasury Department was arrested in 1995 for "retail theft."

Fox News obtained a Wisconsin Department of Justice criminal background check of Saule Omarova, the president’s nominee to lead the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).

According to the background check, Omarova was arrested by Madison, Wisconsin, police officers on June 2, 1995 and charged with a misdemeanor count of "retail theft."

That doesn't bother me but everything else about her does; such as:
quote:

Until I came to the US, I couldn't imagine that things like gender pay gap still existed in today's world. Say what you will about old USSR, there was no gender pay gap there. Market doesn't always "know best."

quote:

Omarova's most out-there academic ideas include directing the Federal Reserve to handle consumer deposits, taking that power away from banks. "Having Americans park their money at the Fed would allow the central bank to more directly and efficiently pull the levers of monetary policy by enabling it to credit individual citizens' accounts when there's a need to stimulate the economy," notes Politico.

The nationalization of the banking industry, etc.

She was first given a deferred prosecution. The charges were later dropped under Wisconsin's first offender program

This isn't bitching about something she said 25 years ago. She STOLE. A thief is a thief.

Hopefully God has forgiven her, but I don't want her anywhere near America's Treasury Dept

Did she? The articles I have seen have been very careful to only say that she was “accused” or “charged.”

Again I ask, “Was she convicted of anything?”

The better question is which of his nominees don't have a criminal record. Remember he nominated an Earth First tree spiker for director of Bureau of Land Management.

People that say stupid shite like this certainly shouldn't be allowed to hold any office, but they should also have to donate back to the government any salary beyond the median income for the country. Only then should they be allowed to utter such destructive drivel.
