If there's no evidence (which we don't know) then someone did.
Stabbing is a type of intimate rage crime isn't it? If it wasn't the gf it seems likely to be someone with a very personal sense of grievance

She left her house at 11:30 at night. How busy do you think the park is at midnight? Someone left the park, covered in blood, and no one noticed. Why couldn't it have been her? The fact the dog was murdered might indicate the person that did it wasn't a stranger.
