They’re jumping through hoops because they’ve been threatened that if they fail to have 100% vaccinated they lose any and all federal contracts. A company like CAT or an auto manufacturer likely relies on a significant % of their annual revenue on government contracts.

What good is a federal contract if you don’t have the employees to fulfill it?
Even a group as inept as the federal government will eventually notice that you are shorting them what they ordered or that none of it works.
A defense contractor I used to know has talked about how for the holidays every year, the company he worked for would just slap shite in a box and send it out to meet deadlines and then spend the next month or two fixing matters.
