Pot/Pan Cleaning Question

I recently received my grandmothers old set of magnalite pots and pans. She passed about 10 years ago and they went to my aunt who was a bit of a hoarder. They’re in my possession now but have visible rat turds on some of them. I was thinking a bleach/water solution in my crawfish pot followed by a deep scrub and couple passes through the dishwasher. Any other ideas?

I’m not sure how bleach affects magnalites. But bleach is just a sanitizer. It won’t get the dirt or turds off better. Just use soap and water. Then if you’re worried about bacteria, boil water in the pot on the stove. Problem solved.
I wouldn’t recommend bleach or dishwasher unless you do an internet search to see if it’s ok for magnalite.

I’d just scrub them with an antibacterial dish soap & some hot water
Don’t think you are supposed to soak them for long or put them in dishwasher

Scrub with Bar Keeper's Friend, then regular liquid dish soap, then dishwasher high heat. They'll be fine.

In my experience, aluminum generally does not do well in the dishwashers.
Just scrub with barkeepers friend and wash. You eat more rat turds and hair in your processed food than are on your pots.

When I was young and stupid(er), I used to put my big Magnalite skillet in the dishwasher, ignoring my mother’s advice. It is a pitted mess. Luckily, I didn’t do that to my other pieces. Don’t do that.

clean it with soap and water and stiff brush, then fill it with water boil that shite for a good 20 minutes, rinse and you should be good.
the S&W w/ stiff brush should take care of all the turd bits and visible dirt. The boiling water will kill whatever bacteria you may be worried about.
I wouldn't put bleach in the pot. I think you're over thinking it. Plus, in the course of your life you've probably ingested more than a handful of rat turds unknowingly, especially if you've ever eaten at a french quarter restaurant at any time in your life.

Thanks for the responses. I felt like I was just overthinking it and needed some reassurance.
